Howard University women’s track and field continues elevating the national profile of HBCU women’s athletics through championship performances and rising NCAA visibility.
The Bison captured the 2026 HBCU Showcase title in dominant fashion, winning the meet by 50 points while recording eight event victories during a standout performance in New York.
Howard athletes have also continued making impact on the national stage. Sprinter and hurdler Marcia Sey has emerged as one of the top HBCU women athletes competing at the NCAA level, helping bring increased national attention to Howard’s women’s track and field program.
The momentum surrounding Howard reflects a larger rise in visibility for HBCU women’s track and field as Black women athletes continue gaining national attention through collegiate competition, NIL opportunities, and expanded media coverage.
As women’s sports continue experiencing unprecedented growth, HBCU track and field programs remain an important pipeline for elite talent, culture, and Black excellence in athletics.
