Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has built her reputation as one of the WNBA's most dominant rebounders, and this week she added another historic milestone to her growing résumé. Reese became the fastest player in league history to reach 1,000 career rebounds, accomplishing the feat in just 79 games—breaking the previous record held by Tina Charles by 10 games.
For Reese, the achievement is another chapter in what has quickly become one of the most productive starts to a WNBA career.
The Randallstown, Maryland native first rose to national prominence at Saint Frances Academy before starring at the University of Maryland and later transferring to LSU, where she helped lead the Tigers to the 2023 NCAA national championship and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Her relentless motor and rebounding instincts translated immediately to the professional game after being selected seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Now in her first season with the Atlanta Dream after an offseason trade from the Chicago Sky, Reese continues to redefine what's possible on the glass. Earlier this season she also became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 900 career rebounds, proving that her dominance is anything but a one-time accomplishment.
Against the Indiana Fever, Reese reached the 1,000-rebound milestone during Atlanta's 113-96 victory. She finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block while helping the Dream improve to one of the Eastern Conference's top teams.
What separates Reese isn't just the numbers—it's the consistency. She has established herself as one of the league's premier double-double threats, bringing energy, physicality and a relentless competitive edge every time she steps on the floor. Whether battling for offensive rebounds or protecting the paint defensively, Reese has become the heartbeat of Atlanta's frontcourt.
At just 23 years old, she has already accumulated an impressive collection of milestones, All-Star appearances and rebounding records. If her current trajectory continues, many believe she's only beginning to scratch the surface of what could become a Hall of Fame career.
